Alebex Hackathon
One afternoon. Eleven ideas for voice AI.
Alebex's first Vancouver Voice AI Hackathon brought teams and solo builders to AIC Founders Lab for a 2.5-hour sprint. Working with Alebex's real-time voice infrastructure and APIs, participants created 11 community submissions.
Industry professionals built alongside eight high-school students from Alexander Academy, who worked in two teams of four. Their prototypes explored games, education, accessibility, healthcare, and everyday tasks.
The winning project
Charlene won with Don't Die In Office, a voice-driven game about navigating a first job. Players talk to six office characters as they work toward a promotion.
Eleven projects, eleven starting points
- Don't Die In Office: Charlene's winning office-politics game.
- Brightside: Jordan Molina and Habibi's dental-visit rehearsal experience.
- An: Linh Hoang's spoken interpretation concept for medical conversations.
- Empethic: Brian's empathy practice through social role-play.
- Sous – your personal cook mate: ChickenDream's hands-free cooking companion.
- Daylight Calendar AI: DAGOAT's way to capture ideas and reminders.
- Samantha — The Voice That Remembers: Michael Yamashita's voice companion using context from earlier calls.
- Sidekick — Your voice, connected to the world: voice-first discovery and supervised shopping for blind and low-vision users.
- BC University Pathway: Andrew, Austin, Nathan and Mateus's postsecondary exploration tool.
- eCommerce shop keeper: chillguy's voice shopkeeper for online stores.
- AI business Assessment interviewer: Time To Revenue's interview-based approach to business AI recommendations.
These are early prototypes. The next step is testing with intended users, including careful validation for healthcare concepts and clear controls for memory and supervised actions.
